We all went a bit quiet yesterday afternoon. There were a few sombre tweets but after what we had witnessed at the local government clinic we all needed some space.
I filmed Eva speaking to one of the doctors. It's a powerful post but due to the instability of our connection I'm not going to be able to post it until we get back to the city tomorrow. Instead I'll leave you with a few images from today.
Tell me, what kind of building do you think I took them in?
I do have another post in me today but we are about to meet for dinner. I'll get straight back to it when I get back later.
Finally, there seems to be intense debate flying around about the validity of our trip - so here's the chance to ask the three of us any questions about where we have been and the people we have met. We'll film the best ones and post them onto our YouTube channel and include a link to your blog.
Please tell me that's NOT a hospital...
ReplyDeleteLooks like a prison... hope it's not what I think it is, but having seen Eastern European orphanages, I'm not holding my breath.
ReplyDeleteI think you are in a hospital. Looking at the person in White in the second picture & the bed frames. Is it sad it doesn't shock me, I've actually been surprised how "clean" some of the places you have already visited.
ReplyDeleteThrough gritted teeth I'm going to guess this is a hospital. I don't hold out much hope of being wrong. We have to get these pictures more exposure. You guys are the medium behind what has to be a monster shake-up.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're doing ok and are not too emotionally drained. Stay strong girls. You have all of our support. x
I am too scared to say in case I am right!
ReplyDeleteAgree with all the previous comments. I'm pretty sure it's a hospital, and if I'm right, VERY SADLY, what I'm seeing doesn't surprise me.
ReplyDeleteAlso sadly, there are people who would look at these pictures and pretty much refuse to acknowledge what they're seeing.
And that needs to change, pretty damn quick.
Total admiration for you being strong enough to take the pics.
xxxxxx
It looks like a prison but I am guessing that is a hospital, sadly. I wonder if that is a mattress on which a woman has given birth. All of it looks horrific. Absolutely horrific. Your trip is extremely valid. I cannot stress that point highly enough. You are doing an incredible job. Keep going sis, love you, miss you, crying with you xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear people are questioning the validity of your trip. Personally I think there is something very powerful about three (mostly) normal women, mothers, telling us what everyday life is like in a country we may never understand. Telling us about the hope, joy and good work that is being done. Absorbing and reporting the huge burden that the mothers and children carry with them. Ant & Dec may be able to do the same trip but it doesn't mean nearly as much to me. Nay sayers I challenge you to take on the task that these three women have embraced. I wonder what would be a valid way to raise awareness in your eyes? This isn't a jolly to a holiday park in a far flung sunny clime but an emotionally wearing trip to raise awareness, can you really say your awareness has not been raised by this trip? No? Than I suggest you stop the back biting and press for change instead.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I really want to believe it is not a hospital but I am scared to say it is.
ReplyDeletePeople are questioning this trip? Seriously...I am shocked but then not shocked at how unreal some people can be. As Kat said it is not like you are enjoying yourselves, seeing these things. Goodness I don't know if I could do what you guys are doing, not sure I have the emotional strengh for it. Ignore those people and carry on being strong doing what you are doing. It is great.
sadly it looks like a hospital!!!!!
ReplyDeleteyou rock ladies
ReplyDeleteOh god - not a hospital or an orphanage.
ReplyDeleteTo the critics on Sky News who said you should be in the UK doing something. Bollocks. We in the western world will never know the depths of suffering, misery and disease that you girls are showing us. For the most part, we have governments and social services who can help, we have access to education yada yada. We need to know what is going on outside our own little bubbles, and people like you are showing us.
Good on ya!
I am scared because I think it is a hospital!
ReplyDeleteI think its either a hospital or an orphanage. And anyone who naysays is only jealous.
ReplyDeleteIt really bring things back to a different level... How lucky are we to be born where we were...
ReplyDeletewell done ladies, you are doing a fab job and you will probably be totally different people when you come back, with a lot to come to term with but so much richer spiritually. Good luck with the rest of the trip xx
What is being said about this trip on Sky News? How can people say it's not worthwhile? As for saying you should be doing things here in the UK, agree with expat mum. Yes, people in the UK have problems but they do also have access to SO MUCH MORE than people in Bangladesh.
ReplyDeleteI gasped when I saw that bed, it's shocking.
ReplyDeleteYour trip is an incredible achievement and way of raising awareness, sending lots of love to you all x
Questioning the validity of the trip? What? Nobody questioned the validity of the trip when the bloggers went to Disney, or Butlins. For heaven's sake. Just ignore it.
