Biba is an Original Sister

I'm having a total proud mum moment, so please humour me. My beautiful daughter, Biba shot for the new Original Sister Collection last week and the new pics have just gone live on their site.

If you have a girl and you haven't already checked out their beautiful range, I suggest you do it right away. 

Biba has been modelling for 10 years (she did her first job when she was 2 weeks old) but she came away from this shoot on cloud nine. She said it was the best shoot that she's ever done.

She loves the collection and has already decided that she's ordering everything that she wore in the shoot!

It's Original Sister's attention to detail that makes their clothes stand out. A puff sleeve here, a full swirly skirt there. Everything can be layered and mixed to create a fab range of stylish basics that are head and shoulders above the high street offering.

Everyones favourite is the Natalya Skater Dress. Biba LOVED it and it will look amazing with the retro style roller boots that I bought her for her birthday.

Me Right Now : Original Sister

Its been quite a while since I joined in The Gallery. Life has kind of gotten in the way of small personal pleasures like that. But I'm back with this weeks 'Me Right Now' theme.

I'd just taken this picture of Biba when I read Tara's prompt. She's sitting in hair and make up at this weeks shoot for the new Original Sister Collection.

She had some awesome hair do's durning the day and I can't wait to see the official collection images. Biba had a great day and met some new friends. I know that Ali from Original Sister will be really pleased to know that Biba said that was the best shoot she'd ever done.

Help.. January birthday appeal...

I have a confession. Yes another one.

I'm shopped out.

That's not something that I say (ever). I love to shop, but for the first time (ever) I'm really lacking in drive and inspiration yet I have a daughter with a birthday looming and I know that I have to muster up that creativity from somewhere - because it isn't her fault that she was born at the end of the run.

For those of you who are interested, the run goes like this;

September - Daddy's birthday.

October - FunnyGirl's birthday.

November - My big brother's birthday, my birthday, Sonny's birthday, my other big brother's birthday. Four weeks. Four birthdays.

December - No1 son's birthday (Christmas Eve), Christmas, My Mum's birthday (Boxing day).

January - Our wedding anniversary and last but by no means least...... ModelGirl's big day.

I thought that No1 son had it tough with a pre Christmas birthday but actually it's ModelGirl that gets the bum deal. Hopefully Santa has been good to her and brought her all of the things that she wished for... and those little things that slipped his mind have been remedied with the help of the Christmas cash fairy.

So for better or for worse I decided to let her loose, with a budget of £100 on www.very.co.uk. Her choice not mine - as she'd helped me pick out a few baby clothing sets for friends in the run up to Christmas and had her eye on a new pair of Ugg boots (as her feet have grown to clown proportions over the holidays).

This is her boot of choice. Ugg Australia Cardi boots £80 and selling out fast.

She felt very happy and grown up at choosing her own pressie, but I know that is a one time thing. This year has been a totally new entity for us having spend the last two months (plus) living and breathing their performance schedule in The King and I. Luckily for her, we have a surprise party planned for the day after her birthday with all of her new 'King and I' siblings. The ones that she loves but doesn't fight with - so I guess we have lucked out after all!

The Gallery...... Seasons

In a bid to clear my brain I dug down into my photo archives to take part in this weeks Gallery. A topical theme, Seasons.

I'm an Autumn girl through and through. Perhaps that's because of my November birth - but I'm not really sure. I love the rich deep colours of the leaves as they decide to fall and the crunch beneath your feet as you stride through the rich red, orange and yellow on the ground.

I love these pics of my girls. They were taken a fair few years ago at the Conker tree in the center of our village, FunnyGirl is just a toddler. 

We had so much fun collecting big juicy conkers in all of our pockets and crunching through the leaves.

ModelGirl is a bit like a tree herself! You can date her by the length of her hair and here it is so short, years away from being able to sit on it like she can now! I miss them being small, excited and worry free. Hang on to those moments and cherish them dearly.

ModelGirl gets her moment

I have blogged before about the insecurities of my beautiful daughter but yesterday she stepped up to the mark and was awarded for her skill and practice. She won the area under 11 Girls trampoline competition. She is 8.

I am so proud of her... but more importantly she was proud of herself too. She had a little light in her eye that was still there when she greeted me this morning. She had practiced, she overcome not only her nerves but she blocked out that very big voice in her head that tells her that she isn't as good as everyone else.

I hope that she remembers this day for as long as I do.

And the others...... Totally Sonny won his group.... but he was the only one in it again (and for the record ModelGirl's score was much better!) and FunnyGirl in her first ever outing did a brilliant first round but forgot what she was doing in the second, slicing her score and leaving her 5th.
She says she is going to stick to dancing!

I know that I have written about the challenges of a working mum many times before but today has been hard for me but even harder for ModelGirl. You see - today is her birthday and instead of being tucked up at home with her I'm in Barcelona.

I feel awful. I'm tired, worn out from the three days of meetings and the three nights of socialising with my colleagues from around the world. I feel as though I have let her down by not being there for her even though she is celebrating today with her friends, with me tomorrow and at her party on Saturday.

Who ever said that being a mum was easy?

At least the Blythe outfit that i had made for her in America arrived in time!

Sophie4Sophie dresses go global!

ModelGirl and FunnyGirl's appearance on Planet Awesome Kid has made it to a cool Spanish webmag called Caos, tragically it's not in English - but you can make use of the Google translator. They really are rocking their Sophie4Sophie dresses.

ModelGirl's News...

Today she ran in from school and threw down the letter onto my keyboard. 

"Look mum, look! I got the letter."

The letter that she so proudly waved before me was an invitation to join the elite Leicestershire school children's dance project. The same one that had allowed my own dance training to flourish when I was a child.

It is times like these when being a mum if the best feeling in the whole wide world. 

Well done honey. I am so proud of you.
